What to expect
It takes courage to make change
If you think that you could benefit from psychotherapy, I would be honoured to work with you.
You can contact me here with any questions, or to book your first appointment. I have daytime and evening appointments available, and I am currently booking about three weeks in advance.
I work out of my office located in Osborne Village (see location), or remotely using a secure online video platform or the telephone. If you have difficulty getting to appointments regularly or if you live in Manitoba but outside of the Winnipeg area, these options may work better for you.
During our first meeting, we will review our expectations of counselling and then start to refine your major counselling goals. Maybe you have specific goals, like becoming more assertive with a coworker or manager at work, or maybe you're looking for parenting tips to help with an especially challenging time. It could also be that you are not yet sure of your goals, don't worry - we can work on them together.
Once we have set some goals, we can get started on a plan. What needs to happen in order to move towards achieving your goals? How will we know that you're getting closer? We will often check in during our sessions, ensuring that we are both on the right track and that I am helping you move forward.
Some people are looking for just a few sessions to work on a specific challenge, while other people find that they need to spend more time in counselling. I meet with most people weekly at first, and from there we may move to bi-weekly or even monthly sessions. Because counselling is a significant expense (yet a very important investment!), I will do my best to work out a plan that works for you.
